Carnotaurus was a remarkable medium-sized meat-eating dinosaur that lived in what is now Argentina during the Late Cretaceous period, roughly seventy-two million years ago. The name Carnotaurus comes from the Latin for meat-eating bull, after the species' most famous and distinctive feature - a pair of short, thick, bony horns projecting from above the eyes, the only confirmed example of a horned predatory dinosaur ever discovered. Carnotaurus was around twenty-five feet long, with a deep box-shaped skull, a powerful neck, and a small set of remarkably stubby and almost vestigial arms, even shorter and more reduced than those of Tyrannosaurus rex.
